Zaditen is a prescribed medication used to treat allergy-related symptoms such as rhinitis and conjunctivitis. 

Classified as an antihistamine with anti-allergy properties, Zaditen functions by reducing the release of substances in the body that cause inflammatory reactions. 

Uses and Dosage 

Before taking Zaditen and with every prescription refill, thoroughly review the accompanying medication guide and patient information leaflet. Do not hesitate to consult your doctor or pharmacist for any queries or concerns.  

The dosage of Zaditen may vary per individual depending on medical conditions, age, and treatment response. 

Typically, Zaditen is taken twice daily with food as prescribed by the doctor. It should be ingested whole with a full glass of water. 

For optimal results, this medication should be taken regularly at around the same time(s) daily, exactly as directed. 

If you miss a dose of Zaditen, take it as soon as you recall unless your next dose is due shortly. In that case, resume your regular dosing schedule and avoid doubling up on tablets to compensate for missed ones.

The above-listed side effects typically resolve within a few days of starting treatment. If any of them persist worsen, inform your doctor right away. 

Other Reported Side Effects 

• Increased hyperactivity 
• Irritability or nervousness 
• Disrupted sleep 
• Painful or burning sensation during urination 

• Weight gain 

Contact your doctor promptly if any of the above-listed symptoms become troublesome. 

Allergic Reactions 

In rare cases, Zaditen may trigger a serious allergic response. Stop taking this medication and ask for medical help if you notice signs of an allergic reaction, such as: 

• Severe skin reaction with blistering or peeling

Cautions

Ensure to inform all your healthcare providers about your complete medication regimen, including prescribed and over-the-counter medications, vitamins, and herbal supplements, to minimize the risk of drug interactions with Zaditen. 

Some medications may affect your treatment with Zaditen. Ensure your doctor is aware if you are using any of the following: 

• Oral diabetes medications 
• Medications for managing sleep disorders or anxiety 
• Antihistamines for addressing allergic reactions like itching, rash, or a runny nose 

In the initial days of Zaditen treatment, caution should be exercised as it may impair reactions. Avoid operating vehicles or machinery until the individual’s response to this treatment is determined. 

Discuss your pregnancy status with your doctor, whether you are currently pregnant or planning to conceive. Notify your doctor promptly if you become pregnant while taking Zaditen. 

The active component of Zaditen, ketotifen, is excreted in breast milk, making it contraindicated for breastfeeding women.
