Drug Description

Indications

Coly-Mycin M is indicated for the treatment of certain bacterial infections.

Coly-Mycin M belongs to the class of antibiotics and functions by eradicating bacteria.

Uses and Dosage

Coly-Mycin M is supplied in powder form inside a vial and should be reconstituted with 2 mL sterile water for intramuscular injection or intravenous infusion.

If instructed, you may receive training on self-administering injections at home. Do not self-administer this medication unless you are fully aware of the proper mixing and storage methods, as well as the injection technique and safe disposal of needles, IV tubing, and related items.

Before administering Coly-Mycin M and every time you refill your prescription, carefully read the accompanying medication guide and patient information leaflet. Should any concerns or questions arise, seek guidance from your doctor or pharmacist.

The prescribed dosage and duration of your treatment with this medication are determined by your overall health, the specific infection you have, and your response to the medication.

Typically, Coly-Mycin M is administered every 6 to 12 hours. It can be given via intramuscular injection in the buttocks or thighs, intravenous injection over 3 to 5 minutes, or continuous intravenous infusion lasting 22 to 23 hours.

When reconstituting Coly-Mycin M, gently swirl it to prevent foaming.

Before administration, visually examine the solution for any particulate matter or discoloration. If either of these issues is detected, do not use the solution.

Following the preparation of Coly-Mycin M for intravenous infusion, it must be administered immediately and should not be stored for future use.

For intramuscular injection, you can store the mixture in a refrigerator or at a cool room temperature but avoid freezing it. Ensure usage within 7 days.

Adhere to the complete prescribed course of Coly-Mycin M as directed to achieve optimal results. Although symptoms may improve before the infection is fully eradicated, skipping doses can heighten the likelihood of developing antibiotic-resistant infections.

Store unprepared Coly-Mycin M at a cool room temperature, shielding it from moisture and heat.
