Drug Description

Indications

Imunovir is a prescribed medication used to treat three distinct conditions:

  • Herpes virus infections affecting the genitals, skin, and mucous membranes
  • Genital warts (in combination with podophyllin or carbon dioxide laser)
  • Subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE – a rare complication of measles)

As an antiviral medication, Imunovir works by boosting the activity of certain immune cells like T-cells and natural killer cells, increasing pro-inflammatory cytokine levels, and fixing weakened responses in patients with a suppressed immune system affected by the said conditions.

Uses and Dosage

Read the accompanying medication guide and patient information leaflet of Imunovir before taking it for the first time and with every prescription refill. Seek guidance from your doctor or pharmacist if you have any inquiries or need additional information.

The recommended dosage and duration of intake of Imunovir may vary depending on the condition being treated.

  • For herpes simplex infection, 2 tablets are usually taken four times daily for 7-14 days.
  • For genital warts, 2 tablets are usually taken three times daily for 14-28 days.
  • For SSPE, your doctor will determine the appropriate dosage based on your body weight and provide guidance on the duration of treatment.

To achieve the best results, maintain a consistent daily schedule for taking Immunovir. In case of a missed dose, take it as soon as you remember and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Avoid doubling the dose to make up for a missed tablet.

Adhere precisely to your doctor’s instructions when taking Imunovir. Consult your doctor before making any changes to the prescribed dosage, frequency, or duration of intake.
