Drug Description

Indications

Kerydin Topical Solution is indicated for the treatment of onychomycosis, a fungal toenail infection resulting in nail discoloration, splitting, or pain.

As an oxaborole antifungal, Kerydin Topical Solution functions by halting the growth of nail fungus.

Uses and Dosage

Read the accompanying medication guide and patient information leaflet of Kerydin Topical Solution before initial use and with each prescription refill. Consult your doctor if you have queries or need additional information.

Typically, Kerydin Topical Solution is applied once a day to the affected toenails as prescribed by the doctor for a duration of 48 weeks.

To properly apply this solution:

  1. Ensure your toenails are clean and dry.
  2. For first-time use, remove the cap from the topical solution bottle and dispose of it. Unwrap the dropper and insert it into the bottle.
  3. Squeeze the dropper bulb, then release it to fill the dropper with medication.
  4. Hold the dropper over the affected toenail and slowly squeeze the bulb to apply enough medication to cover the entire toenail.
    • You may need more than one drop.
  5. Use the dropper tip to spread the medication across the entire toenail.
  6. Position the dropper under the toenail tip, squeezing the bulb to apply medication to the skin beneath the toenail.
    • Use the dropper tip to spread the medicine under the toenail.
  7. If medication gets on the skin around the toenail, use a tissue to wipe it off.
    • Do not wipe the medication off the toenail itself.
  8. For multiple affected toenails, repeat steps 3-7 to apply medication to each toenail.
  9. After application, place the dropper back into the medication bottle and securely screw it on.
  10. Let your toenails dry for a few minutes.
  11. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after applying the solution.

Use Kerydin Topical Solution regularly, exactly as directed, to get the most benefit from it. Establish a daily routine by using it at the same time each day to aid in adherence.

Adhere to the full duration of the prescribed treatment with this topical solution, even if symptoms subside within a few days. Extended treatment is often necessary to grow healthy nails to replace infected ones. Ceasing the medication prematurely could lead to a recurrence of the infection.
