Indications 

This medication is prescribed to enhance skin appearance by diminishing fine lines and wrinkles, minimizing roughness, and enhancing skin tone. Renova Cream is recommended for use alongside a comprehensive skincare regimen and a sun avoidance program, incorporating moisturizer application and daily usage of a potent sunscreen. 

Tretinoin is classified under the category of medications known as retinoids. Its mechanism of action involves influencing the growth patterns of skin cells. It’s important to note that while tretinoin is effective in improving skin condition, it does not restore skin damaged by sun exposure or reverse the effects of aging caused by sun exposure. 

Uses and Dosage 

Please consult the Patient Information Leaflet provided by your pharmacist before initiating the use of this medication and upon each refill. Should you have any queries, seek guidance from your doctor or pharmacist. 

To apply this medication, begin by gently cleansing your face using a mild or soapless cleanser, then pat the skin dry. Allow a period of 20-30 minutes before administering the medication. Following your doctor’s instructions, apply a pea-sized amount of cream, ensuring light coverage over the entire face. Typically, this application is recommended once daily before bedtime. Take care to avoid contact with the eyes, nostrils, and mouth. Refrain from washing your face or applying other skincare products for at least 1 hour post-application of this product. 

Adhere strictly to the prescribed dosage and frequency of use; exceeding the recommended quantity or frequency will not expedite or enhance results but may elevate the risk of experiencing redness, peeling, or discomfort. Avoid applying this medication on areas with cuts, scrapes, sunburns, or affected by eczema. 

Exercise caution to prevent contact of this medication with the eyes. In the event of accidental eye exposure, flush the eyes thoroughly with large amounts of water. Contact your doctor if irritation persists. Wash your hands after application to minimize the likelihood of inadvertent exposure to the eyes. 

The effects of this medication will manifest gradually, with noticeable improvement typically observed within the first 6 months of consistent use. 

If utilized for acne treatment, initial worsening of the condition may occur before observing subsequent improvement. 

Side Effects 

Seek immediate emergency medical attention if you exhibit any signs of an allergic reaction to Renova Cream, such as: 

• Hives 
• Difficulty breathing 
• Swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat. 

Discontinue use of Renova and promptly contact your doctor if you experience: 

• Severe burning, stinging, or irritation of the treated skin 
• Pronounced redness, swelling, blistering, peeling, or crusting of the skin 

Note that your skin might become more sensitive to weather extremes like cold and wind while using this medication. 

Common side effects associated with Renova may include: 

• Mild warmth or stinging sensation at the application site 
• Changes in the color of the treated skin 

Cautions 

Before using tretinoin, discuss any allergies you have, especially to vitamin A-related drugs or other retinoids, with your doctor or pharmacist. Inactive ingredients in the product might trigger allergic reactions or other issues. 

Inform your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history, particularly if you have eczema. 

Tretinoin can heighten sun sensitivity. Minimize sun exposure, including tanning booths, and protect your skin from weather extremes. Apply sunscreen daily, wear protective clothing outdoors, and promptly notify your doctor if you experience sunburn or skin blisters/redness. Wait until your skin fully recovers from sunburn before using tretinoin. 

Avoid electrolysis, waxing, or chemical depilatories for hair removal in treated areas while using this product. If you’ve recently used products containing sulfur, resorcinol, or salicylic acid, use tretinoin cautiously after the effects of such products on the skin have diminished.
