Indications 

Lupron Depot Kit is used alone or in conjunction with other medication (norethindrone) to manage endometriosis, a condition characterized by the growth of uterine tissue in areas beyond the uterus, leading to pain, irregular menstruation, and associated symptoms. 

In addition, Lupron Depot Kit is used in combination with other medications (iron) to address anemia resulting from uterine fibroids, which are noncancerous growths in the uterus. 

Lupron Depot is a synthetic version of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH). It works by inducing heightened production of specific hormones (such as estradiol), triggering a negative feedback loop that temporarily reduces the body’s estradiol levels within a few weeks. Through this decrease in estrogen production, Lupron Depot reduces the growth and spread of abnormal tissue responsible for symptoms in the said conditions.  

Uses and Dosage 

Lupron Depot Kit is a prolonged-release suspension administered via intramuscular injection by a healthcare professional in a medical facility or clinic, typically monthly. 

For self-administering at home, ensure a thorough understanding of preparation, usage instructions from your healthcare provider, and product packaging. Familiarize yourself with proper storage and safe disposal of medical supplies. 

The dosage and length of treatment with Lupron Depot Kit are based on individual medical conditions, response to the treatment, and laboratory test results. 

Your healthcare provider will show you the correct body locations for administering Lupron Depot Kit. To minimize the chance of skin reactions, avoid injecting in the exact same spot each time.

Allergic Reactions

• Severe dizziness

Cautions

The likelihood of developing diabetes is elevated in individuals receiving GnRH analogs like Lupron Depot Kit. Your doctor will monitor your blood glucose levels and address any changes in line with established guidelines. 

Lupron Depot Kit can pose risks to a developing fetus and may result in birth defects. Refrain from using this medication if you are pregnant.  

Consult your doctor for further guidance on using dependable, non-hormonal birth control methods (like condoms or a diaphragm with spermicide). Inform your doctor right away if you get pregnant while taking this medication. 

The transfer of leuprolide into breast milk is uncertain; hence, breastfeeding while using Lupron Depot Kit is not advised due to potential risks to the infant. Prior to breastfeeding, consult your doctor for guidance.
