Drug Description

Indications

Monistat 1 Dual-Pak Combination Pack is used to treat vaginal yeast infections while providing relief from associated symptoms such as vaginal burning, itching, and abnormal discharge.

As an azole antifungal medication, Monistat 1 Dual-Pak Combination Pack works by halting the growth of the yeast (fungus) responsible for the infection.

Uses and Dosage

Before using Monistat 1 Dual-Pak Combination Pack, carefully review the enclosed consumer information leaflet for detailed instructions and information. If you have any questions, seek guidance from your pharmacist.

Monistat 1 Dual-Pak Combination Pack includes one ovule insert, one contoured disposable applicator, and one external itch relief cream tube.

The ovule insert is a single-use medication meant to be placed into the vagina using the provided applicator either during the daytime or nighttime. While the cream should be applied externally around the vagina twice daily for up to 7 days, as needed.

To properly administer the ovule insert:

  1. Wash and dry your hands thoroughly.
  2. Place the ovule insert securely into the top (wider end) of the applicator.
  3. Hold the applicator by its opposite end and gently insert it into the vagina as far as comfortable, either while lying on your back with your knees bent or while standing with your feet apart and your knees bent.
  4. With one hand on the barrel, use the other hand to push the ovule insert as far back as possible.
  5. Remove both parts of the applicator from the vagina and discard after use.
    • Do not flush down in the toilet.
  6. Wash your hands after completing the procedure.

Consider using deodorant-free pads or panty shields to safeguard your attire following the ovule insert application, as leakage or discharge may occur.

For proper cream application, follow these steps:

  1. Wash your hands before applying the cream.
  2. Open the tube by unscrewing the cap.
    • On the first use, press the cap’s sharp point into the tube’s sealed end and push down firmly until the seal is open.
  3. Squeeze a small amount of cream onto your fingertip.
  4. Apply the cream to the itchy and irritated skin outside the vagina (vulva).
  5. After each application, screw the cap back on the tube and wash your hands.
  6. Repeat this process each morning and at bedtime as needed for the prescribed duration of use.

Refrain from using tampons, douches, spermicides, condoms, or diaphragms until treatment is finished and symptoms have subsided.

Do not wear tight synthetic clothing, like pantyhose, that restricts air circulation. Opt for loose-fitting attire made of cotton and other natural fibers until the infection is resolved.

For the best results, use Monistat 1 Dual-Pak Combination Pack exactly as instructed on the leaflet. If your doctor has prescribed this medication, follow their guidance carefully.

Adhere to the full duration of the prescribed medication regimen, even if symptoms improve or your menstrual period begins. Prematurely discontinuing the medication may result in a recurrence of the yeast infection.
