Uses and Dosage

Canesten Topical Cream is intended exclusively for skin use. It should not be used in the eyes, nose, mouth, or vagina. 

Typically, this cream is applied to the affected skin area 2-3 times a day or as prescribed by a doctor. 

The duration of treatment may span between 3 to 4 weeks, depending on the type of infection being treated. 

To apply Canesten Topical Cream: 

1. Begin by washing your hands before applying the cream. 
2. Thoroughly cleanse and dry the affected area.  
3. Apply a thin layer of cream, gently smoothing it onto the affected area.  
   • For the athlete’s foot, focus on applying the cream between the toes. Wear breathable shoes and change socks daily. 
4. Remember to wash your hands after applying the cream unless you are using it for a hand infection treatment. 

Do not cover the treated skin unless directed by your doctor. Refrain from using bandages or dressings that hinder airflow; use a lightweight cotton-gauze dressing to safeguard your clothing. 

For optimal outcomes, use Canesten Topical Cream exactly as directed at the same time daily. Do not exceed the prescribed frequency, as it will not expedite healing but may heighten the risk of side effects. 

Complete the entire prescribed course of this medication, even if symptoms improve. Premature discontinuation may enable fungal growth and lead to a recurrence of the infection. 

Inform your doctor if your condition persists beyond 4 weeks of treatment or deteriorates at any point. 

Side Effects

Common Side Effects 

• Burning, stinging, swelling, irritation, redness, small raised bumps, tenderness, or skin flaking at the application site
