Drug Description

Indications

Mirtazapine is prescribed for the treatment of depression, functioning to enhance mood and foster a sense of well-being. As an antidepressant, Mirtazapine operates by readjusting the equilibrium of natural neurotransmitters within the brain, thereby contributing to its therapeutic effects.

Uses and Dosage

Avoid using mirtazapine if you have recently taken a MAO inhibitor within the last 14 days, as it can lead to a hazardous drug interaction. MAO inhibitors encompass medications such as isocarboxazid, linezolid, methylene blue injection, phenelzine, tranylcypromine, among others.

Inform your doctor about any concurrent use of stimulant medication, opioid medication, herbal products, or medications for depression, mental illness, Parkinson’s disease, migraine headaches, serious infections, or for the prevention of nausea and vomiting.
