Drug Description

Indications

Visine Advance Allergy is used to alleviate eye itching, excessive tearing, and redness triggered by various allergens such as pollen, trees, grass, ragweed, dust, pets, and mold.

Visine Advance Allergy contains two active ingredients: naphazoline (a decongestant) and pheniramine maleate (an antihistamine).

Naphazoline works by constricting blood vessels in the eye to alleviate redness, while pheniramine inhibits histamines (natural substances responsible for allergy symptoms) to diminish eye itching and watering.

Uses and Dosage

Review the information on the packaging of Visine Advance Allergy before using it for the first time and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to consult your doctor or pharmacist for guidance.

Visine Advance Allergy is applied as 1 to 2 drops to the affected eye up to 4 times a day or as prescribed by the doctor if they have recommended it.

Before use, visually examine the solution and refrain from using it if its color has altered or if it appears cloudy.

Remove contact lenses before applying these eye drops. Wait at least 10 minutes after application before reinserting contact lenses. Consult your doctor regarding wearing contact lenses if your eyes are red.

To properly apply this eye drop:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly.
    • Make sure not to touch the dropper tip or let it touch your eye or any other surface to prevent contamination.
  2. Tilt your head back and look upward, then pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pouch.
  3. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and squeeze one drop into the pouch.
  4. Look downward and gently close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes
  5. Use one finger to apply gentle pressure at the corner of your eye near the nose to prevent the medication from draining away.
    • Avoid blinking or rubbing your eyes during this time.
  6. Repeat steps 2 to 5 if your dose requires more than one drop, and for the other eye if directed.
  7. After each use, securely replace the dropper cap without rinsing the dropper.

If you are using another type of eye medication, like drops or ointments, wait at least 5 minutes before applying additional medications. Apply eye drops before eye ointments to ensure proper absorption.

Avoid using Visine Advance Allergy continuously for more than 3 to 4 days, as prolonged use may lead to heightened eye redness (rebound effect) when the medication wears off; inform your doctor if this happens.

If your symptoms persist or worsen after 72 hours, or if you suspect a serious medical issue, discontinue the use of this eye drop and seek immediate medical assistance.
