Drug Description

Indications

Nilstat Oral Suspension is a medication used to treat fungal infections of the mouth, also known as oral candidiasis or thrush. It contains 100,000 IU/mL of nystatin and should not be used for the treatment of systemic mycoses.

Nystatin works by stopping the growth of fungus, which makes it effective in treating fungal infections of the mouth, also known as oral candidiasis or thrush. When the medication is taken orally, it works inside the mouth to treat the infection.

Use and Dosage

The Oral Suspension form of Nilstat should be taken as directed by your doctor, typically 4 times a day. Before each dose, ensure that you shake the bottle well. Then, measure the dose carefully using a special measuring device or spoon, and not a household spoon, to ensure that you receive the correct dose.

Unless instructed otherwise by your doctor, follow these steps while using Nilstat: Take half of the dose and place it in one side of your mouth. Hold each portion of the medication in your mouth for as long as possible before swallowing. Swish it around in your mouth before swallowing, if possible. Then repeat the process with the remaining half of the dose on the other side of your mouth. Do not eat for 5 to 10 minutes after using this medication.

It may take several days to several months to complete your treatment with Nilstat. To obtain the maximum benefits from the medication, use it regularly and at the same time each day. The dosage will depend on your medical condition and your response to treatment.

Avoid eating or drinking for at least 30 minutes after taking the medication to allow it to work effectively. Use the medication as directed by your healthcare professional and complete the full course of treatment, even if symptoms improve.
