Drug Description

Indications

Dulcolax Laxative Tablets contain 5 mg of bisacodyl as the active ingredient. These tablets have a dual-action effect that aids in stimulating bowel muscles and hydrating the intestine with water from your body, thereby softening stool and facilitating bowel movements.

The tablets provide gentle and much-needed relief by triggering bowel movements, making them an effective solution for constipation. The medication usually produces a bowel movement within 6 to 12 hours.

Uses and Dosage

Administer this medication orally according to the instructions provided by your physician. If self-treating, carefully adhere to the guidelines stated on the product packaging. Any inquiries should be directed to your physician or pharmacist.

Ingest the medication whole, without crushing, chewing, or breaking the tablet. It should not be consumed with antacids, milk, or milk products within one hour, as doing so could erode the tablet’s coating and heighten the risk of stomach distress and queasiness.

The dosage is dependent on various factors, including age, medical condition, and response to treatment. Do not surpass the recommended dose or consume this medication more frequently than prescribed.

Unless advised by your physician, do not consume this medication for more than seven days, as its overuse can result in severe side effects.

The medication may require 6 to 12 hours before it elicits a bowel movement. Notify your doctor if your symptoms persist, deteriorate, or you experience rectal bleeding. In case of a severe medical problem, seek immediate medical attention.
