Description
Indications
Movicol is a prescribed medication used to alleviate occasional and chronic constipation, including severe cases such as fecal impaction characterized by a large, immovable mass of dry and hard stool within the rectum.
As an osmotic laxative, Movicol softens and bulks up hard, dry stool by bringing water into the colon. This action triggers colonic activity and relieves constipation, making bowel movements comfortable.
Uses and Dosage
Before starting treatment with Movicol and with each prescription refill, carefully review its medication guide and patient information leaflet. Ask your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions or uncertainties.
Movicol is supplied as a powder in sachets, which should be mixed with the appropriate amount of water for optimal efficacy. It can be consumed with or without food at any time.
To properly prepare the solution:

- Add approximately 125ml or ¼ pint of water to the glass.
- Stir the mixture thoroughly until all the powder is completely dissolved, resulting in a clear or slightly hazy solution.
