Drug Description

Indications

Nalcrom is an oral medication used to treat food allergies by preventing the release of certain chemicals in the body that cause allergic reactions. It contains the active ingredient sodium cromoglycate and is available in capsule form.

Nalcrom is a type of medication known as a mast cell stabilizer. Mast cells are cells in the body that release histamine and other chemicals when they are activated by an allergen. These chemicals cause the symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as itching, swelling, and inflammation. It works by blocking the activation of mast cells, which in turn prevents the release of these chemicals and reduces the severity of allergic reactions.

Use and Dosage

Take Nalcrom capsules exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The capsules should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. The capsules can be taken with or without food. Do not crush, chew, or break the capsules. The usual dose for adults and children over 14 years of age is 2 capsules taken 4 times a day. For children under 14 years of age, the usual dose is 1 capsule taken 4 times a day

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
