Indications 

This pharmaceutical preparation is indicated to temporarily relieve inflammation, burning, pain, and pruritus associated with hemorrhoidal affliction. The formulation contains phenylephrine and pramoxine as active ingredients. Phenylephrine, a sympathomimetic amine, works by inducing temporary vasoconstriction in the affected area, thereby reducing swelling and discomfort. Pramoxine, classified as a local anesthetic, interrupts nerve impulses in the skin, leading to diminished pain and itching sensation. Certain product variations may feature components such as cocoa butter, hard fat, mineral oil, or shark liver oil, which offer soothing or protective properties, thus preventing excessive contact with stool. 

Uses and Dosage 

This pharmaceutical agent serves as a temporary remedy for alleviating the symptoms of hemorrhoids, including swelling, burning, pain, and itching. The recommended method of administration involves applying the product onto the affected skin surface up to four times daily, typically in the morning and at bedtime, or after each bowel movement, as per your healthcare provider’s instructions. The product should be administered using the applicator tip or nozzle for application inside the lower rectum. Adherence to the instructions provided in the product package or your doctor’s direction is crucial. Don’t insert the product too high into the rectum. 

Dosage is adjusted according to the patient’s medical condition and response to treatment, and exceeding the recommended frequency or duration of use is not advised. 

If symptoms persist beyond seven days, bleeding or exacerbation of pain occurs, or if a severe medical concern is suspected, prompt medical consultation is necessary.

Regularly using this medication typically does not result in significant side effects. Any adverse effects are usually mild, such as:  

• Temporary discomfort 
• Stinging 

If these symptoms persist or worsen, inform your physician or pharmacist immediately. 

Severe Side Effects

If your physician has prescribed this medication, note that the benefits of treatment outweigh the potential risks of side effects. Most individuals who use this medication experience no serious adverse effects. 

However, you should discontinue the medication immediately and seek medical attention from your doctor if you experience any severe side effects, including:  

• Rapid or irregular heartbeat 
• Throbbing headache 
• Feelings of restlessness 
• Trembling 
• Difficulty sleeping 

Caution 

Before using this medication, inform your physician or pharmacist if you are allergic to phenylephrine, pramoxine, any of the product’s inactive ingredients, or have any other allergies. The inactive ingredients can cause allergic reactions or other issues. You may contact your pharmacist for additional information. 

If you have any of the following health conditions, consult your doctor or pharmacist before using this medication: diabetes, heart problems such as chest pain or heart attack, high blood pressure, overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism), or difficult urination due to blockage (such as an enlarged prostate). 

The use of this product in children under the age of 12 is not advised without consulting a physician.
