This pharmaceutical formulation is indicated for the management of elevated arterial blood pressure. It comprises two active therapeutic agents: perindopril and amlodipine. This medication’s primary objective is to mitigate hypertension, thereby reducing the risk of cerebrovascular events, myocardial infarctions, and renal complications. Perindopril falls under the angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors category, while amlodipine is classified as a calcium channel blocker. Both constituents exert their therapeutic effects by inducing vasodilation, promoting enhanced blood flow by relaxing vascular smooth muscle. 

Uses and Dosage 

Administer this medication orally, either with or without food, as prescribed by your healthcare provider, typically once daily. 

To minimize potential adverse effects, your physician may advise you to commence treatment with a lower initial dosage and then incrementally adjust it. Diligently adhere to your doctor’s guidance in this regard.

Side Effects 

Common Side Effects

Some common side effects of this medication may include dizziness or light-headedness during the initial adjustment period. You may experience a dry cough, swelling of the hands, ankles, or feet, flushing, or nausea. Should any of these side effects persist or worsen, promptly inform your healthcare provider or pharmacist. 

Exercise caution when transitioning from a seated or reclined position to an upright one to mitigate the likelihood of dizziness and light-headedness. 

Severe Side Effects

Keep in mind that this medication has been prescribed to you because your physician has determined that the potential benefits outweigh the risks of possible side effects. Many individuals using this medication do not encounter serious adverse effects. 

Promptly notify your doctor in the event of any severe side effects, such as:  

• Fainting 
• Rapid 
• Irregular or pounding heartbeat 
• Symptoms indicative of elevated potassium levels in the blood (e.g., muscle weakness, or irregular heartbeat) 
• Signs suggestive of kidney dysfunction (e.g., alterations in urine volume) 

Cautions 

Before initiating treatment with this product, inform your healthcare provider or pharmacist of any known allergies you may have, particularly if you have a hypersensitivity to perindopril, amlodipine, other ACE inhibitors (e.g., enalapril, lisinopril), other calcium channel blockers (e.g., nisoldipine, nifedipine), or any other allergens. Provide your medical history to your healthcare provider or pharmacist, paying particular attention to any instances of prior allergic reactions characterized by facial, lip, tongue, or throat swelling (angioedema), as well as any history of medical procedures involving blood filtration (e.g., LDL apheresis, dialysis), elevated blood potassium levels, structural heart anomalies (e.g., aortic stenosis), liver ailments, or episodes of dehydration. 

This medication has the potential to induce dizziness. The consumption of alcohol or marijuana (cannabis) can exacerbate this effect. Hence, refrain from operating machinery, driving, or engaging in activities requiring alertness until you are confident in your ability to do so safely. Limiting the intake of alcoholic beverages is also advised. If you are using marijuana (cannabis), consult your doctor regarding its use with this medication. 

Excessive perspiration, diarrhea, or vomiting can lead to dehydration, increasing the risk of lightheadedness. If you experience prolonged diarrhea or vomiting, promptly inform your doctor. Unless directed otherwise by your healthcare provider, ensure adequate fluid intake to prevent dehydration.
