Indications

NovoTwist is a type of needle used for insulin injection pens. It features a unique attachment and detachment system that involves pressing the needle down and turning it a quarter of a turn, as compared to conventional screw-thread needles that require several turns.

The needle is designed to reduce pain and discomfort during injection and is preferred by many users due to its just twist technique.

The NovoTwist needle features a unique attachment and detachment system that involves pressing the needle down and turning it a quarter of a turn, as compared to conventional screw-thread needles that require several turns.

Use and Dosage

To use the NovoTwist needle, first, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water. Select the appropriate needle size as recommended by your healthcare provider. Remove the needle cap and attach the needle to your insulin pen according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Make sure the needle is securely attached to the pen. Prime the needle by dialing the pen to 2 units and then pressing the injection button to expel any air bubbles from the needle. Choose your injection site and clean the area with an alcohol swab. Hold the pen at a 90-degree angle to the skin and insert the needle into the injection site. Inject the insulin according to your healthcare provider’s instructions.

After injection, remove the needle from the skin and dispose of it in a sharps container. Never reuse needles. If you have any questions or concerns about how to use the NovoTwist needle, talk to your healthcare provider or pharmacist for further guidance.

Cautions

  • Use caution when injecting in areas with visible blood vessels, scars, or calluses.
  • Use caution when injecting around areas of skin with tattoos, as there is a risk of injecting into the inked area.
  • Use caution when injecting in areas where there is reduced sensation, such as in patients with diabetic neuropathy, as there may be a risk of injecting too deeply.
  • If you experience any pain, swelling, redness, or other symptoms at the injection site, contact your healthcare provider.
  • In rare cases, an allergic reaction to the needle may occur. If you experience symptoms such as hives, difficulty breathing, or swelling of the lips, tongue, or throat, seek emergency medical attention.
