The Ascensia Contour Next Glucose Meter is a blood glucose monitoring system designed to help people with diabetes monitor their blood sugar levels accurately and easily. Use and Dosage 

To use the Ascensia Contour Next Glucose Meter, follow these general steps: 

1. Prepare the meter: Insert the batteries into the meter if necessary, and make sure the meter is clean and free of any debris. Some models may require you to turn on the meter by inserting a test strip. 
2. Prepare the test strip: Remove a Contour Next test strip from its container and ensure it is not expired. Check if the gray end of the test strip is clean and undamaged. 
3. Insert the test strip: Insert the gray end of the test strip into the meter’s test strip port. The meter will typically turn on automatically or prompt you to turn it on. 
4. Apply blood sample: When the meter is ready, you will see a screen indicating that it is ready for a blood sample. Use a lancing device to prick your finger and collect a small drop of blood. Gently touch the blood drop to the designated area on the test strip. 
5. Wait for the result: The meter will analyze the blood sample and display the blood glucose reading on the screen. It usually takes a few seconds for the result to appear. 
6. Record the result: If desired, you can record the blood glucose reading in a logbook or a smartphone app for further tracking and analysis. 

After obtaining the reading, carefully remove the used test strip from the meter and discard it according to local disposal guidelines.

• Check the expiration date: Always check the expiration date on the test strips before use. Expired test strips may provide inaccurate readings. 
• Use the meter as directed: The Contour Next Glucose Meter is designed for self-testing by individuals with diabetes. It should not be used for diagnosing or treating any medical condition without consulting a healthcare professional. 
• Keep the meter clean: Avoid getting the meter wet or exposing it to extreme temperatures, as this may affect its functionality. 
• Calibration: Some models of the Contour Next Glucose Meter may require periodic calibration using control solution or other methods.  
• Interference: Keep in mind that certain substances, medications, or environmental factors may interfere with the accuracy of the meter’s readings.

• Use control solution: Regularly use control solution to check the performance of the meter and test strips. This helps ensure that the meter provides accurate readings. Follow the instructions provided with the control solution. 
• User errors: Be aware of common user errors that can affect the accuracy of the readings, such as insufficient blood sample, improper application of blood to the test strip, or not following the test strip insertion process correctly. Take care to follow the instructions carefully to minimize user errors. 
• External factors: Certain medications, substances, and conditions may affect blood glucose readings. These can include high levels of vitamin C, acetaminophen, uric acid, and certain medications like ascorbic acid (Vitamin C) or peritoneal dialysis. Be aware of these factors and consult with your healthcare professional if you have concerns about potential interference. 
• Symptoms vs. readings: Remember that blood glucose readings are just one piece of information. If you experience symptoms that do not align with your blood glucose readings, consult with your healthcare professional for further evaluation. 
• Accuracy checks: Consider periodically cross-checking your meter’s readings with laboratory blood glucose tests to ensure accuracy. This can help identify any discrepancies or issues with the meter’s performance.
