Drug Description

Cardizem CD is a prescribed medication for hypertension treatment, either as a standalone therapy or in combination with other antihypertensive drugs.

Cardizem CD is also indicated for managing chronic stable angina and angina caused by coronary artery spasms.

Classified as a calcium channel blocker, Cardizem CD works by inducing relaxation in the blood vessels, reducing the strain on the heart’s pumping activity. It also enhances the delivery of oxygenated blood to the heart.

Uses and Dosage

Before taking Cardizem CD and with each prescription refill, thoroughly review its medication guide and patient information leaflet. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for any questions or concerns.

Cardizem CD dosage is individualized and adjusted based on the patient’s medical condition and response to the treatment. Strictly follow your doctor’s instructions, which may include gradual dosage adjustments.

Typically, Cardizem CD is taken once a day as directed by the doctor. Swallow the capsule whole and avoid crushing or chewing it, as this could result in the rapid release of the entire drug and potentially heighten the risk of side effects.

Take Cardizem CD regularly around the same time(s) daily to achieve optimal results.

Continue taking this medication even if you feel well, as individuals with high blood pressure often do not experience symptoms of illness.

Inform your physician if your condition deteriorates, such as an aggravation of chest pain or an elevation in routine blood pressure measurements.

Refrain from engaging in activities that require alertness, such as driving or operating machinery, until you have assessed the impact of Cardizem CD on your alertness levels.

Due to a lack of well-controlled studies in pregnant women, the use of Cardizem CD should only be considered if the potential benefits outweigh the potential risks to the fetus.
