Drug Description

Indications

Galvus Met is a combination of vildagliptin and metformin hydrochloride which is an oral medication prescribed to improve glycemic control of people with type 2 diabetes mellitus whose blood sugar is inadequately controlled on metformin alone. It is typically used along with a balanced diet and regular exercise. Galvus Met helps to lower blood sugar levels by increasing insulin production and reducing the amount of glucose produced by the liver.

Vildagliptin is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor, which helps to control high blood sugar levels. Metformin is a biguanide that works by decreasing the amount of glucose produced by the liver and improving the body’s response to insulin.

By controlling your blood sugar level, Galvus Met helps avoid complications of diabetes, such as heart attack, stroke, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and kidney damage.

Use and Dosage

Galvus Met comes in the form of oral tablet and is typically taken with meals to reduce the risk of stomach upset. It is usually taken twice daily, with one tablet in the morning and one in the evening. Take the tablet with your main meals, such as breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Take the tablet with a glass of water and swallow it whole. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet unless specifically instructed by your healthcare provider.

The dosage may vary depending on the severity of your condition and your response to the treatment. Take the tablet at the same time every day to maintain consistent blood sugar levels. Do not stop taking Galvus Met without consulting your doctor first.

Take Galvus Met at the same time each day to maintain a consistent level of the medication in your body. This can help optimize its effectiveness. Regularly follow up with your healthcare provider to monitor your response to the medication and make any necessary adjustments to your treatment plan.
