Drug Description

Mexitil is a prescribed medication used to treat life-threatening documented ventricular arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythms), including sustained ventricular tachycardia, as determined by the physician.

As an anti-arrhythmic drug, Mexitil works by inhibiting specific cardiac electrical signals to establish and maintain a stable heart rhythm.

Uses and Dosage

Before starting treatment with Mexitil and with each prescription refill, carefully review its medication guide and patient information leaflet. In case of any inquiries or uncertainties, consult your physician or pharmacist for guidance.

The dosage of Mexitil is individualized based on age, liver function, medical condition, and response to the treatment.

Typically, this medication is taken thrice a day, every 8 hours. However, a twice-daily regimen at 12-hour intervals may be recommended for individuals whose arrhythmias are effectively managed with Mexitil.

To avoid stomach upset, take Mexitil with food or an antacid. Take it consistently at the same times daily to achieve optimal results.

Keep taking Mexitil exactly as prescribed, even if you feel fine. Ceasing the use of this medication abruptly without consulting your doctor can potentially exacerbate your condition.
