Indications 

Nitrolingual Pumpspray is a prescription medication used to treat angina, a type of chest pain that occurs when the heart muscle is not getting enough blood flow. It should be used before physical activities (such as exercise, sexual activity) to help prevent chest pain. 

Nitroglycerin, the generic name for Nitrolingual Pumpspray, is a vasodilator that relaxes the smooth muscles in the walls of blood vessels, allowing them to widen and increase blood flow. This decrease in resistance to blood flow can relieve chest pain (angina) caused by coronary artery disease. The Pumpspray is absorbed quickly through the lining of the mouth, allowing it to take effect within a few minutes of administration. 

Use and Dosage 

Nitrolingual Pumpspray is administered as a metered dose spray that delivers 48 mg of solution containing 400 mcg of nitroglycerin with each spray. It should be sprayed under the tongue at the first sign of chest pain. The recommended dose for adults is usually 1 or 2 sprays, which may be repeated every 5 minutes as needed. 

The spray is then ready for use. 

1. Sit down and rest. 
2. Remove the plastic cover and hold the bottle upright with your forefinger on top of the grooved nozzle. There is no need to shake the bottle. 
3. Open your mouth and bring the bottle as close as possible, aiming it under your tongue. 
4. Press the nozzle firmly with your forefinger to release the spray under your tongue. Do not inhale the spray. 
5. Release the nozzle and close your mouth. Avoid swallowing immediately after taking a dose. 
6. For a second dose repeat the above steps. 
7. Replace the plastic cover after use. 

If you miss a dose of Nitroglycerin, do not double the dose to make up for it. Instead, use the next dose as scheduled.

• Feeling faint or lightheaded, especially when you stand up suddenly 
• Feeling weak or dizzy 
• Headache 
• Mild burning or tingling with the tablet in the mouth 
• Redness 
• Tingly feeling under the skin  
• Warmth 
• Weakness 

Serious Side Effects 

• Blurred vision 
• Difficulty breathing 
• Feeling like you might pass out or 
• Fever 
• Headache with a severe blistering 
• Hives 
• Irregular heart rate 
• Pale skin 
• Peeling  
• Rash or itching 
• Red skin rash 
• Sore throat  
• Swelling of your face/lips/tongue/throat 
• Tightness in the chest 

Cautions 

• Do not use the Pumpspray if you are allergic to nitroglycerin or any other ingredients in the medication. 
• Inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney, or heart problems before using the Pumpspray. 
• Nitroglycerin may interact with other medications, so inform your doctor of any other medications you are taking. 
• Do not consume alcohol while using Nitroglycerin, as it may increase the risk of side effects. 
• Nitroglycerin may cause dizziness or fainting, so avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how the medication affects you. 
• If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk to your doctor before using Nitrolingual Pumpspray. 
• Nitroglycerin may lower blood pressure, so inform your doctor if you have low blood pressure or are taking medications to treat high blood pressure. 
• Do not use Nitrolingual Pumpspray if you have recently suffered a heart attack or have a condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. 
• Nitroglycerin may cause headaches, which can be a sign that the medication is working. However, if the headaches are severe or persistent, inform your doctor. 
• If you have a history of glaucoma, inform your doctor before using it, as it may increase pressure in the eye. 
• Nitrolingual Pumpspray should be stored at room temperature and away from heat or direct sunlight. 
• Nitrolingual Pumpspray should not be used for prolonged periods of time without consulting a doctor.
