Description

Indications

Orudis EC is used for the management of pain and inflammation associated with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, and primary dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain). It is also indicated for the treatment of primary dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain).

Orudis EC contains ketoprofen, which belongs to a class of medications called nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It works by reducing pain, inflammation, and fever by inhibiting the production of certain chemicals in the body.

It is in an enteric-coated formulation. Enteric coating is a special coating applied to oral medications that allows them to pass through the stomach unchanged and dissolve in the intestines instead.

Use and Dosage

Ketoprofen EC delayed release tablets should be taken by mouth on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour before meals or 2 hours after meals as directed by your doctor, usually 1 to 4 times daily or as needed. Take it with a full glass of water unless your doctor directs you otherwise. Do not lie down for at least 10 minutes after taking the tablet.

Swallow this enteric-coated tablet whole. Do not crush or chew enteric-coated tablets. Doing so can increase stomach upset and increase the risk of side effects. Again, to reduce your risk of stomach bleeding and other side effects, take the tablet at the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible time. Do not increase your dose or use it more often or for longer than prescribed, as it can increase the risk of side effects.

If you miss a dose of ketoprofen EC delayed release tablets, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule.
