Description
Indications
Rythmol SR is the extended-release formulation of propafenone hydrochloride. Rythmol SR is indicated for prolonging the time to recurrence of symptomatic atrial fibrillation (AF) in patients with episodic AF.
Rythmol ER contains an active ingredient called Propafenone. Propafenone belongs to a class of medications known as antiarrhythmics. It works by blocking certain electrical signals in the heart, helping to restore and maintain a normal heart rhythm. Specifically, it blocks sodium channels in the heart muscle cells, which helps to slow down the electrical impulses and stabilize the heart’s rhythm.
Use and Dosage
Rythmol ER is usually taken orally by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually every 12 hours. Swallow the extended-release capsules whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the capsules, as this can interfere with the extended-release mechanism. The tablet can be taken with or without food. However, taking it with a meal or snack may help reduce stomach upset or gastrointestinal side effects.
Take Rythmol ER at the same time(s) each day, as directed by your healthcare provider. The medication is typically taken every 12 hours, but the exact dosing schedule may vary depending on your individual needs. Do not stop taking the medication abruptly without consulting your healthcare provider, as this can lead to a recurrence of symptoms or other complications.
If you miss a dose of Rythmol ER, take it as soon as you remember. However, if it is close to the time of your next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose.
