Drug Description

Indications

Steglatro, known by its generic name ertugliflozin, is an oral medication that is indicated for the improvement of glycemic control in individuals diagnosed with type 3 diabetes mellitus.

This medication is typically used in conjunction with proper diet and exercise regimens. By effectively managing elevated blood sugar levels, the risk of complications associated with diabetes such as stroke, heart attack, blindness, nerve damage, sexual dysfunction, and limb loss can be reduced.

Uses and Dosage

Prior to initiating treatment with ertugliflozin,  carefully review the Medication Guide that is provided to you by your pharmacist. Review this guide before commencing treatment and each time a refill is obtained. Should any questions or concerns arise, please consult with your physician or pharmacist for clarification.

Administer this medication orally as instructed by your healthcare provider, with or without food, typically once daily in the morning. The dosage prescribed is dependent on your medical condition and your response to treatment.

Consistent usage of this medication is imperative in order to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes. Take the medication at the same time each day to facilitate adherence.

Should your medical condition fail to improve or worsen, such as your blood sugar levels being too high or too low, inform your physician immediately.

Prior to taking ertugliflozin, kindly inform your healthcare provider or pharmacist if you are allergic to it or if you have any other allergies. This medication may contain inactive ingredients that can result in allergic reactions or other problems. For more details, speak with your pharmacist.

Before using this medication, inform your healthcare provider or pharmacist about your medical history, particularly if you have had kidney disease/failure (dialysis), dehydration, history of yeast infections in the vagina or penis, use/abuse of alcohol, low blood pressure, blocked or narrowed blood vessels, usually in the leg, nerve problems (such as diabetic peripheral neuropathy), foot sores or ulcers, or amputation.

Due to extremely low or high blood sugar levels, you may experience blurred vision, dizziness, or drowsiness. Do not operate machinery, drive, or engage in any activity that requires alertness until you can perform them safely.
