Drug Description

Indications

Pazeo is an ophthalmic medication prescribed for the treatment of ocular

itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis.

Classified as a mast cell stabilizer, Pazeo functions by inhibiting the release of allergenic substances that induce eye itching.

Uses and Dosage

Before using Pazeo, and with each prescription refill, carefully review its medication guide and patient information leaflet. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have any queries or uncertainties.

Pazeo is indicated for ophthalmic use only and should not be injected or ingested.

The usual dosage of Pazeo is one drop in each affected eye, once daily, as prescribed by the doctor.

To administer Pazeo correctly, follow these steps:

  1. Thoroughly wash your hands before application.
  2. Avoid touching the dropper tip or allowing it to touch your eye or surfaces to prevent contamination.
  3. If wearing contact lenses, remove them before applying the eye drops and wait at least 10 minutes before reinserting them.
  4. Tilt your head back and look upward. Gently pull down the lower eyelid with your fingers to create a small pocket.
  5. Directly position the dropper over your eye and carefully dispense one drop into the pocket.
  6. Look downward and gently close your eyes. Apply gentle pressure with one finger on your tear duct for 1 to 2 minutes to prevent the medication from draining out.
  7. Avoid blinking or rubbing your eye during this time.
  8. Repeat the above steps for the other eye if instructed to use the medication in both eyes.
  9. Refrain from rinsing the dropper and ensure that the dropper cap is securely replaced after every use.

After applying Pazeo, allow a minimum of 5 minutes before using any other eye product or medication.

To achieve the best outcomes, adhere to a consistent daily schedule when using Pazeo. Use it exactly as directed and avoid modifying the dosage or exceeding the prescribed frequency as advised by your doctor.

Side Effects

Most users of Pazeo experience no severe side effects. However, the following common side effects may occur:

  • Headache
  • Blurred vision
  • Burning, stinging, redness, or dryness of the eye
  • Swelling of the eyelids
  • A sensation of something in the eye

If any of these effects persist or worsen, promptly inform your doctor.

Allergic Reactions

Although rare, a severe allergic reaction to Pazeo may occur. If any of the following symptoms listed below occur, prompt medical assistance should be sought:

  • Rash
  • Itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat
  • Dizziness
  • Trouble breathing

Not all side effects of Pazeo are included in this list. Inform your physician promptly if any unlisted effects are observed.

Cautions

Before starting treatment with Pazeo, inform your doctor of any known allergies, particularly to olopatadine, other medications, or any of the components of Pazeo solution.

Disclose to your physician your medical background to ensure Pazeo is safe for you.

Eye medication like Pazeo is unlikely unaffected by other drugs but may have potential interactions. To minimize the risk of interactions, inform all healthcare providers about your complete medication regimen, including:

  • Prescriptions

  • Herbal products

Temporary blurring of vision may occur following Pazeo application. Refrain from driving, operating machinery, or engaging in visually demanding tasks until visual clarity is restored for safe performance.
