Description

Indications

This pharmaceutical agent facilitates pupil dilation, a process integral to specific ophthalmic assessments. Classified within the anticholinergic drug category, Tropicamide exerts its pharmacological effect by inducing relaxation in specific ocular musculature.

Uses and Dosage

To use eye drops effectively and hygienically:

  1. Begin by thoroughly washing your hands to prevent contamination.
  2. Remove contact lenses, if worn, and consult your healthcare provider for guidance on when to reapply them.
  3. Tilt your head back and look upward to facilitate drop application. Gently pull down your lower eyelid to create a small pouch.
  4. Hold the dropper directly over your eye and instill the prescribed number of drops as directed by your healthcare provider, usually 15 to 20 minutes before an eye examination.
  5. After applying the drops, close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes and gently apply pressure at the inner corner of your eye near the nose for 2 to 3 minutes. This helps prevent the medication from draining out and being absorbed by the body.
  6. Avoid excessive blinking or rubbing your eye during this process.
  7. If instructed, repeat the process for the other eye.
  8. After each use, do not rinse the dropper. Replace the dropper cap promptly to maintain sterility.
  9. If using other types of eye medications (drops or ointments), wait at least 5 to 10 minutes before applying additional medications. Prioritize eye drops before ointments for optimal penetration.

By following these instructions carefully, you can ensure the safe and effective application of your prescribed eye medication.
