Drug Description

Indications

Ofev is a medication indicated for individuals with lung diseases that cause the development of scar tissue deep within the lungs, known as fibrosis. Over time, this scar tissue thickens and stiffens, making it more difficult for the lungs to function properly, resulting in reduced lung capacity and breathing difficulties. Moreover, inadequate oxygenation of other vital organs such as the brain and heart can cause additional medical complications.

Ofev is prescribed for the treatment of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), a lung disease characterized by the buildup of scar tissue, as well as chronic interstitial lung disease in which the scar tissue continuously worsens.

The medication is used to decelerate the decline in lung function in individuals with systemic sclerosis-associated interstitial lung disease, known as scleroderma-associated ILD.

While Ofev is not a cure for IPF or ILD, it can help to slow down the progression of these diseases on the lungs.
