Drug Description

Indications

Trusopt Ampules Preservative Free is primarily used to lower intraocular pressure in individuals with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Elevated intraocular pressure can damage the optic nerve and lead to vision loss. It contains the active ingredient dorzolamide hydrochloride. It belongs to a class of drugs known as carbonic anhydrase inhibitors. It works by reducing the production of fluid in the eye, thereby lowering intraocular pressure.

Dorzolamide, the active ingredient in Trusopt Ampules Preservative Free, inhibits the activity of an enzyme called carbonic anhydrase. This enzyme is involved in the production of aqueous humor, the fluid that maintains the shape and pressure of the eye. By inhibiting carbonic anhydrase, dorzolamide reduces the production of aqueous humor, resulting in a decrease in intraocular pressure.

In addition to reducing fluid production, Trusopt Ampules Preservative Free also helps improve the outflow of fluid from the eye. It achieves this by enhancing the uveoscleral outflow pathway, which is one of the mechanisms for fluid drainage from the eye. By enhancing fluid outflow, Trusopt Ampules Preservative Free further contributes to the reduction of intraocular pressure.

Use and Dosage

Trusopt Ampules Preservative-Free is to be applied directly into the affected eye(s) as per the instructions provided by your doctor. Generally, a single drop of Trusopt Ampules Preservative-Free is recommended to be applied three times a day.

To use Trusopt Ampules Preservative Free ampules, follow these steps for using eye drop ampules are as follows:

  1. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water before handling the eye drops.
  2. Open the single-dose container of Trusopt Ampules Preservative Free by twisting off the cap or breaking the seal, following the instructions provided.

  5. Hold the single-dose container upside down, close to your eye, without touching your eye or eyelashes.
  6. Squeeze the container to release a drop of the medication into the pocket created by your lower eyelid. Be careful not to squeeze too hard to avoid excessive dripping.
  7. Release your lower eyelid and close your eye gently. Do not blink or rub your eye.
  8. If you need to apply more than one drop or if your doctor has prescribed additional eye drops, wait for at least 5 minutes before applying the next drop. This allows each drop to be absorbed properly.
  9. After using the eye drops, carefully dispose of the single-dose container. Do not reuse or save it for future use.
