Description

Indications

Tetrahydrozoline is a sympathomimetic amine that functions as a decongestant to alleviate redness of the eyes associated with minor eye irritations like smoke, dust, swimming or smog.

This drug works by constricting the blood vessels in the eye, providing temporary relief. Certain brands of tetrahydrozoline eye drops may contain lubricants to safeguard the eyes from further irritation and dryness.

Uses and Dosage

Follow all directions on the product packaging or as directed by your doctor. If you have any questions or concerns, seek advice from your doctor or pharmacist.

Prior to applying the eye drops, wash your hands thoroughly. To prevent contamination, do not touch the dropper tip or allow it to touch your eye or any other surface. If you wear contact lenses, remove them before using the eye drops. Wait at least 10 minutes after administering the medication before reinserting contact lenses.

Before using, inspect the product visually to ensure safety. Do not use the eye drops if the liquid has changed color or is cloudy. Keep the medication out of the reach of children and pets.

Use the medication up to 4 times a day, or as directed by your doctor, in the affected eye(s).

Tilt your head back, look upward, and gently pull down the lower eyelid to form a pouch. Hold the dropper directly over the eye and dispense 1 drop into the pouch. Look downward and gently close your eyes for 1 to 2 minutes, while applying gentle pressure to the corner of your eye near your nose.

Avoid blinking or rubbing the eye. Repeat these steps if you require more than 1 drop and for the other eye if directed.

Do not rinse the dropper. Always replace the dropper cap securely after each use. If you are using other types of eye medication, such as drops or ointments, wait at least 5 minutes before applying another medication. Administer eye drops before eye ointments to ensure the eye drops can be absorbed.

Using this medication excessively may cause increased eye redness, known as a rebound effect, when the medication wears off. If this occurs, consult your doctor. Do not use this medication for longer than 3 to 4 days at a time.

If your condition persists or worsens after 72 hours, or if you suspect a serious medical problem, stop using the medication and seek immediate medical attention.
